'Life of Jeanie' Collection
This collection has been inspired by an unknown, almost secret family member, Jeanie Hamilton, her great grandmother. Jeanie, for reasons unknown, gave up her baby son, William McGranthin Hamilton, a day before his 1st birthday. William was fostered and grew up never knowing anything about his mother or even the name of his father. Through studying the genealogy of her maternal grandfather online Jordanne has managed to piece together fragments of tiny facts and tried to gain an understanding of Jeanie and what might have led her to relinquish her child, not at birth but almost a year after. Initially, Jordanne became interested specifically in the life of Jeanie and wanted to delve deeper into this section of her family history.
Jordanne's jewellery collection which includes, rings, brooches and necklaces has been directly influenced by Jeanie's decision to give up her 11 month baby son - Exploring how she might have felt during her life having never known her son.
